My photo
Whilst running round after two bambinos I set up www.kryshees.com making childrens clothes, unique childrens accessories, wonderful nurser adornments and yummy mummy type products. I love things bright and bold and try to bring these into childrens items.

Dress a girl around the world!!

Louise from Sew Scrumptious set up thread on folksy asking if anyone wanted to join her in making pillowcase dresses to send abroad. The details are on her blog here

I joined in as soon as I saw the thread and posted out on my local freecycle for any pillowcases to transform. I met two ladies, Penny and Chrissie, who had a craft morning together and brought over 13 dresses! WOW!!!

I have picked up a number of pillowcases to transform. They are sitting nicely on a pile awaiting my attention! I will get round to them, promise!

I was also donated two lovely skirts to 'do something too', so ta da.. 2 slightly different dresses to add to the pile!

I felt bad chopping these up so decided to shirr(sp) the top sections for an easy dress coupled with ribbon ties.

Two more in a sparkly sequined circle print and details

Thanks to a village friend Clare for those.

I had best get a move on with the others!!!

Carboot to Pinboard!!

Oh I do love a good rummage and even better a wonderful bargain, well who doesn't?

I found an old picture with a passable frame and removed said picture from the frame.

then used the picture to cut out the right sized cork board (donated by my mum!)

popped it into the frame ... I was going to paint it....but I kinda like it as it is

And then hung it up over by my sewing space!!! And filled it up with all those bits what really shouldn't be lying around.
Coupled with a to do list, calendar and some painted pegs glued on.

And voila! Result!

Pop over to Wendy's Handmade Monday for even more weekend craftings!!

Well who doesn't need a waterproof hat in this balmy June?

A little foray into the wrld of oil cloth, but think actually I might have brought table cloth covering...(anyone out there knowledgable to tell me all about the differences?)

With a little help from a teflon foot....ta da...a green green grass waterproof hat for my lil girl. And blimey don't we need one in this balmy April/June weather???

Hope you like, and hopefully more to come!

Happy weekend everyone, lets hope for a nice weekend, or at least go prepared!! :D

Wigwam, Teepee or Tippi??!

Thanks to Wendy at 1st unique gifts for hosting handmade monday again!

So wigwams, teepees, tipi's....

To be honest if you were talking about one of these I think everyone would know what you meant. And I have no idea if there are technical differences between them (please do not go to the trouble of googling the difference on my account!)

I've been meaning to make a wigwam for my outdoor fairing days for a while and then after lots of proscrastinaton, made a mad late night attempt at the one below in preparation for a fair the next day.

On reflection, there are things I would change. This one is quite a petit one, more suitable for more individual play or for the smaller garden or bedroom.

But 4 little braves fitted in on saturday munching on sweets, so perhaps my expectations are larger than life! So this wigwam is four sided, and I think there is merit in either making one with a bigger footprint but the same style. Or perhaps a 5 sided one.

Here are my two enjoying it!

Will get my thinking cap on for that and perhaps come up with a tutorial as this was remarkable simple to make, it did however eat up material like nobodies business!

It has ribbon closures, internal elastics to hold those canes in place, and also those very essential tent peg loops, to stop it flying away in the wind!

More leather lovelies

Spurred on in my recent leather production, I've made a handful more iphone cases ready for their outing on saturday. Fingers crossed for fine weather and that the school's Musicala is not rained off, ekk.

Exporing leather....

Well... sure that sounds fancier and more risque than necessary, but the truth is, I have rather a lot of leather about the house at the moment.

Hubby dear saves my lushy leather scraps from the dustbin for me, and I just can't bear not to use it, its soo luxurious, very expensive feeling leather. hmmmm *dribbles a bit*

I have converted some on my bigshot into brooches, and cutouts for fellow crafters, but amazingly, I still have a rather proud stash of larger than a4 squares.

So....after feeling a bit brooch wiery, weiry, weeiry (?) oh,
f* knows, tired then...shall we put it ;)
Slight digression...
I made an iphone cover!

I hope you like it as much as I do, as I have cut out lots of these ready for sewing, to hopefully have their first outing on saturday.
